7 Indoor Hobbies that Will Help You Ride out Winter in Canada

Do you live somewhere where winter seems to last an eternity? Do you long for the months where you wouldn’t freeze your face off stepping outside to walk your dog? I know I do. The other day, I was leaving the apartment and it was -40 degrees celsius (which apparently is -41.8 Farenheight also). It actually hurt to breathe the air outside. Isn’t that insane?

What I’m trying to say is that I know a fair bit about trying to not go crazy during the long winter months. It helps to keep yourself preoccupied with entertaining hobbies that you can do indoors, aside from the obvious (going stir crazy).

No, this hobby is not only for grannies. I have tried my hand at knitting quite a few times but I actually wasn’t able to get the hang of it. I hear that crocheting is easier. I used to sew when I was younger and I was good at that.

Go through that collection of books that you have been saying you’re going to read. I love reading and my to be read pile is a mile high.

Take up cooking

Take up cooking- Cooking is a great thing to do in the winter. The oven warms up your house and I personally always crave hearty meals in the winter like stews. If you are looking for some fun recipes to try, look no further than my blog

Take an online course

Since you’re hunkered down in the house, winter is the perfect time to work on your education and broaden your knowledge by taking an online course. If you have always been wanting to learn more about a particular subject be it photography, coding, hunting, or history, try to find some free online courses that you could take!

Brush up on your writing skills

Writing will never not be an important skill and the better you are at communicating through the written word, the more opportunities you may open for yourself in the future. Trust me, I’m a blogger.

Start a blog!

That’s what I did and, trust me, it has kept me plenty busy in the winter. Sometimes I even forget to look outside and be horrified by the mass amounts of snow that had accumulated since my last look.

If you are more of an artistic type or just aspiring to be more creative, try out a new creative hobby! Sketching and other forms of art can take up a large chunk of time and if you enjoy it, hours will fly by without you even noticing! This makes for a perfect winter hobby.

As always, thank you guys so much for reading my blog! Let me know in the comments what you do to make the winter go by faster. If you enjoyed this post please subscribe to my blog for more posts like this!
