With everyone stuck inside right now for an undefined amount of time (#2020) I figured it would be a great time to make a list of things that one can do indoors. Since I’m working from home, I don’t necessarily have more free time during the day than I would at any other time but some people, particularly those who are unable to work from home and have been laid off or students who are taking all of their courses online now, may have a lot of free time on their hands. I’m here to help with that!
Paint Your Nails
This is the perfect time to learn how to paint your nails and make it look incredible! Try out some nail art, order up some nail stickers and new polish, watch some youtube videos, it will keep you occupied for a little while at least!
Learn a New Recipe
I learned to make bread right before all of this chaos started and it has come in handy because our bread went mouldy and we haven’t been to the store to get new stuff. Try out some new crockpot meals or do some baking since you should be limiting your outings to the store.
Read the Book you’ve Been Saying you’re Going to Read
We all do this. Unless you are an absolute god, then I bow down to you. But I can’t tell you how many times I buy a book (or multiple books) and they sit around for ages until I read them because I always get busy with other things. This is the perfect time to burn through your to be read list.

Start a Blog
If not now, then when? Try your hand at starting a blog!
Write a Book
This may not be something that everyone will resonate with but as a passionate writer, I feel like I never have enough time to write. I have unfinished books that have been sitting around for months that are just dying to be finished.
Form a New Habit
Making your bed, washing your face consistently, stretching every day. There are so many small things that you can do to make your life better!
Break a Bad Habit
What do you do that you’d like to stop? Maybe it’s chewing your nails, wiping your hands on your pants after you eat Cheetos, or perhaps you want to give up your expensive coffee habit.
Take Some Pictures
If you’re stuck inside, you can take pictures out your window or off your balcony. You can also find neat things to take pictures of indoors!
Learn to Fold Like Marie Kondo
If you haven’t seen her Netflix series yet, you have to go and watch it! She is the cutest lady I have ever see and just watching her help other people is so calming and fun.
Start a YouTube Channel
What better time to make videos when you’re sitting at home anyways. Do you have a hobby you want to share with the world? Maybe you are an avid gamer and want to share that! Whatever it is, it’s time to share it with the world!
Get into Art
Drawing, Painting, ect. I used to love drawing in high school. I’m not particularly good at it but it was something that I enjoyed. The only thing is, I’m a being a perfectionist combined with being a bad artist meant that everything took me a large amount of time to complete. This is something that could keep me occupied for several hours.
Keep your Brain Sharp
Things like crosswords and Sudoku are great for the mind! Do some brain games to help keep you sane during this stressful time.
Sort Through the Pictures on your Phone
You know you have like 3000 pictures cluttering up your phone space (or is that just me?)
Sort Through your Email
Everyone can use a good email purge once in a while. Create some folders for emails you need to keep and chuck the rest!
Take a Bath
Do you have some bath bombs or other fun stuff that you never get to use because you always opt for a 5 minute shower instead of a lengthy bath? This is the time to try it out! Bubbles, bath bombs, sugar scrubs, epsom salts, whatever you want!
Do your Taxes
Sorry, this one might just be for me. But seriously, I really need to do my taxes.
Clean your House
Let’s be real, cleaning is never a bad thing especially right now. And, if you’re like me, your place could probably use a little (or a lot ) dusting.
Set Up your Home Office
If you suddenly find yourself working from home, setting up your home office can be a great way to pass time!
Do a home workout
Everyone and their dog has been posting home workouts lately because all of the gyms are closed. There is a TON of material online to get you started.
Learn a new yoga pose
Do a craft
Start (and hopefully finish) a DIY project
Pinterest is chalk full of DIY ideas! Try your hand at one using materials that you have around your home. Maybe you’ll surprise yourself with your abilities.
Update your resume
Learn something new- pick a topic and start reading!
Space, dinosaurs, quantum mechanics, accounting? Whatever it is, you now have time to learn it!
Go sit on your Balcony That Never Gets Used
Oh, is this one just me again?
Wash your Bedding
Because there’s nothing better than hopping into bed with fresh sheets.
Try on Some Dresses or Other Fancy Clothes
You’d be surprised the effect that this has on your mood. Throw on some lipstick and heels and strut around the house.
I heard a rumor that Hallmark had a Christmas movie marathon last weekend! I don’t know about you but I love me a good sappy romance movie.
Purge your Closet
There is nothing more de-stressing that de cluttering. Every time I de clutter I feel like it lifts so much weight off my shoulders. Things don’t just clutter up your life but also your mind.
Do a Face Mask
A face mask or any other self-care idea is a great way to pass time. Here is a link to my self-care ideas: https://struggling20something.com/2020/01/18/self-care-tips/
